Gustave Singier rejects the idea of abstraction totally detached from reality. His work is a continuation of the Impressionist heritage, seeking to capture sensitive impressions and resonances with the world.
In the '50s, his style became purer and his palette lighter, abandoning dark blues in favor of warmer tones, in which bold black lines stand out. Passionate about music, Singier saw in his works a harmony to be discovered as one discovers an unknown melody: to fully appreciate his painting, one had, in his view, to enter into a receptive and open state of mind, ready to be surprised by new visual sonorities.
