Follow Leoš Šípek
Leoš Šípek was born in 1958 in Paris and has been passionate about art in all its forms from a very young age. During his studies in Classical Literature, French, Latin, Ancient Greek, and Philosophy, he explored the world of words and images, and published a collection of poetry that marked the beginning of his artistic journey. Inspired by the maxim “Ut poesis pictura…” by Horace, he envisions creation as a symbiosis between poetry and painting.
Alongside his literary education, Leoš prepared for the Agrégation at the ENS de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, although he did not intend to pursue a career in teaching. Life then led him to various jobs in the commercial sector, where he developed remarkable interpersonal skills and a great capacity for adaptation. These experiences later enriched his professional and artistic career, enabling him to skillfully combine multiple competencies in the service of his creative work.
It is in this context that he embarked on an original painting production, in which he integrates his literary influences to create works that oscillate between the emotion of words and the visual power of images. Today, Leoš Šípek has established himself as a versatile artist, committed to a constant quest for harmony between written expression and painting.
His special relationship with Brittany has also played a decisive role in his career. Attracted by the cultural richness and the unique atmosphere of this region, he has exhibited his works there on numerous occasions, in various exhibition venues that have allowed him to reach a diverse audience. These exhibitions in Brittany, marked by their warm reception and interest in his singular universe, testify to the resonance of his work beyond the borders of his hometown.
Splitting his time between Paris, where his studio is located, and Moulin, Leoš Šípek continues to work tirelessly to evolve his creative universe, while constantly exploring new avenues of artistic expression.
