Biography

Ladislas Kijno is a French painter of Polish origin, globally recognized for his significant contribution to contemporary abstract art. Famous for his original crumpling technique, Kijno is considered one of the essential pioneers of lyrical abstraction, embracing an expressive, innovative, and often introspective artistic approach.

Born in Warsaw in 1921, Ladislas Kijno moved to France during his childhood, where he quickly developed a fascination with exploring materials and forms. His remarkable work is distinguished by meticulous attention to texture and surface, notably through his innovative use of crumpled paper, onto which he masterfully applies inks, aerosol paints, and various pigments.
