In this biblical episode, Rahab, a prostitute from Jericho, embodies courage and faith. By hiding the spies sent by Joshua, she defies the authorities of her city, risking her life to help those who will come to destroy Jericho. Her gesture, though an act of treason against her own city, becomes an act of faith in the God of Israel, offering her family a chance of salvation.
The darkness of night envelops the scene, symbolizing the clandestinity of his act. Through dark shadows and sharp lines, Rahab emerges as a central figure, strong in her decision to betray her city to protect Israel's spies. The light, subtly placed on her and the two men, highlights her decisive role in saving those she hides under threat.
