Influenced by lyrical abstraction and informal art, Ladislas Kijno develops a singular visual language, combining paper crumpling, spray and collage, giving his works a rich texture and almost sculptural relief.
His work oscillates between the control of gesture and the acceptance of chance. Here, the black surfaces, sometimes fluid, sometimes striated, seem marked by a spontaneous gesture, like traces of scratches or successive erasures. The dialogue between these imprints and the solid colors lends the work an expressive force, in which the materiality of the paper becomes an actor in its own right.
