This two-tone lithograph is the result of Poliakoff's collaboration with the Erker-Presse lithography studio in St. Gallen, owned by the Im Erker gallery, and marks a fruitful period in his career.
It showcases Serge Poliakoff's genius for geometric abstraction through an interweaving of rounded forms, compressing the composition from the outside in and creating a subtle internal rotation. Poliakoff invites us to explore the chromatic contrast between serene, soft sky blue and vibrant, passionate red. Its richness lies in the tones obtained by the transparency of the layers of color laid one on top of the other. Poliakoff thus achieves a particular effect on the luminosity and density of color.
The contrast between these two complementary colors is the raison d'être of the work, which expresses the full manifestation of space through the essential component of color.
