Marini paid tribute to the famous British playwright in his eponymous series of etchings from 1972 and 1977, each consisting of eight plates. Our etching is the first plate on this theme. It features a background in shades of green and cubic, wiry silhouettes, including one animal, testifying to the artist's love of the pictorial study of the horse.
